Establishing a park identity
Elaborating on the tone and character established by the installations in our Warm Welcome Signage and the design of the Pondside District, People and Place are developing the wayfinding and interpretive signage for the Headwaters and Fields Districts at North Maple Regional Park.
The approach includes:
-
Creating an overarching visual identity for the existing areas of North Maple Regional Park;
-
Establishing park districts, each identified by a unique illustration and colour;
-
Creating interpretive signs that highlight the plants and animals of North Maple Regional Park;
-
Developing a wayfinding system and directional signage to help visitors navigate the site;
-
Designing the park maps including classification of trail types, trail descriptions and information about the park districts and amenities;
-
Naming the major park amenities;
-
Establishing the location and visual identity of the Park Main, NMRP's central pathway, as the primary route through the site to guide users to key amenities;
-
Integrating regulatory information into park maps and wayfinding signage to align with the park's visual identity and reduce on-site signage clutter;
-
Ensuring signage meets standards including AODA compliance.
